The Chesapeake chapter is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA). We exist to develop, promote, and grow the field of geographic information systems (GIS) through member meetings, workshops, information and technology sharing, and networking.
Our members live and/or work in the National Capitol Region and beyond. They represent the geospatial community at the local, city, state, and Federal levels of government, as well as, non-government organizations, non-profit groups, and the private sector.
Chesapeake URISA strives to collaborate and network with a variety of groups ranging from educational institutions, Meetup.com groups, other URISA chapters, URISA International, state information committees, and leading GIS technology businesses.
The URISA Chesapeake Chapter is pleased to announce Executive Board vacancies for the following positions for 2-year, elected terms. General duties of each position are described below. More information can be found in the chapter bylaws which are available on our website at https://chesapeakeurisa.org or by sending inquiry to our email address at info@ChesapeakeURISA.org
The chapter welcomes nominations (including self-nomination) of qualified candidates via email to info@ChesapeakeURISA.org. Elections will be held at the URISA Chapter general meeting.
Board nominees should be active members of URISA in good standing and shall reside and/or work within Maryland, Washington, D.C., or Virginia.
The chapter is also seeking volunteers to participate in several chapter activities and items including:
The geographic distribution of our chapter is wide, and we welcome support from all our chapter members. No contribution is too small as our volunteer organization requires many contributors to ensure the success of the chapter.
